As for me, this ranga has 'let go' of the home owning fantasy (for this year anyway) and has embraced the idea of being cashed up for a little while longer and thus avoiding a bridezilla moment next july when the wedding has to actually be PAID for. Plus i got a very exciting offer, official news to come but i can reveal it involves a rather famous mouse :D :D

horrible obsese felines....
So going for a home loan, and after making me jump through hoops for around 2 weeks now they are denying me a loan because of (drum roll please) my HECS debt - that's correct, i am being punished for going to university to further my education, rriiiggghhhttt!!
So, basically you suck bank people, sitting there in your comfy fat chairs asking me to produce $70,000 to secure my first home, whilst you have around 50 billion homes (i averaged it out).

matters of politics...
So the election for our prime minister is looming next weekend and for the first time I'm a little torn.... Yes it's true I'm not a huge fan of the labour party and their record is pretty dismal, however I'm pretty sure that a female SHOULD run the country - shouldn't multi-tasking be a standard ability, men just aren't capable I'm afraid. On the other hand people seemed OBSESSED with Julia's hair colour... yes she is a red head or 'ranga' (as us ginger nuts are now commonly known) so my solution is, let an ACTUAL orangutan run the country - I don't think we'd see a huge difference!
OK, so if a wild animal is out of the question, and I can't put the orangutan in either, my vote for our new prime minister.... anyone who is not a politician!!

Come fly with me...
Wow what a day, my fiance and I were lucky enough to receive a gift voucher for a hot air balloon ride with Hot Air Ballooning Cairns from some of our friends as an engagement present. It's something i've always wanted to try but never really had the right excuse.
The early rise was totally worth it as we watched the first lot of balloons inflate and take off. Perfect conditions, got to see the sun rise and the flames in the balloon kept us warm and toasty. Not only were my partner and I celebrating our engagement it's also our 4year anniversary and though their were others in our hot air balloon it was still very romantic and we got to enjoy our champagne and delicious breakfast when we got back down.
Don't think i'll be searching hard to find an excuse to go again!

cookie, meet the kids - kids meet cookie - no, you can't eat her.
Another exhausting week at work over, celebrating with a pomegranate martini (YUM).
Got my fiance to bring my puppy into the classroom today for the last few minutes for the kids to play with her, she's such a good puppy! One of my boys was terrified of her, who's terrified of a 6 week old puppy???!!!
Got back into swimming yesterday afternoon in an attempt to start training for a triathlon in October, haven't swum laps since November last year, as hard as it was i'm happy to report it's just like riding a bike. I also borrowed a bike from a friend this week to train on .... haven't ridden a bike in a good 12/13 yrs, wish i could say it was like 'riding a bike', wish me luck and stay off the roads for a while maybe.

Name that monster....
Now can I say how much I HATE when people refer to ANYONE with red hair as a 'fiery red-head'. People get mad... It happens, my hair colour does not determine the extent of the anger, the wanker that made that comment usually does.
But today I had a 'moment' and I'm wondering which 'monster' category I fit. So it's July and we're loving tax returns in a big way, but when my fiancé spends his return on a new pushbike, as opposed to the wedding ring he promised he'd spend it on, what's the expected reaction? Mine was a few solid hours of silent treatment followed by tears and heavy layerings of guilt. So I'm wondering, is this the fiery red-head in me, the bridezilla or the average woman who would just like to come first for ONCE...

Welcome to the world of blogging...
And so I commence my first foray into blogging. What started this? Just yesterday I adopted a gorgeous 6 week old puppy from the pound, in amongst getting her home (not easy when you get bailed up every 10 seconds by people wanting a cuddle), introducing her to the cat (not impressed) and trying to settle her in, i realised... What have I done? I'm getting married next July, I want to buy a house before then, I plan on training for a triathlon in October and there's that whole career thing I've got going on (I'm a school teacher). So i decided to write it all down, the good, the bad, the hilarious and the downright scary...
